Frasassi caves: 20 km from the festival

The Frasassi Caves (Italian: Grotte di Frasassi) are a remarkable karst cave system in the municipality of Genga, Italy, in the province of Ancona, Marche. They are among the most famous show caves in Italy.

Make for the plunging Frasassi Gorge for a "journey to the centre of the Earth" through the Grotte di Frasassi, one of Italy's largest and most famous complex of caves. An ideal jaunt for a rainy day.

Some 13 km of limestone caverns have so far been explored and it is reckoned that they may run for up to 35 km. Only one and a half km of this crystalline wonderland is open to the general public. Equipped with walkways and theatrical lighting, it includes the awesome Grotta Grande del Vento, Europe's largest single cavern, so vast that Milan Cathedral would fit comfortably inside, and some of the most extravagantly fanciful stalagmites and stalactites you are ever likely to see. Even claustrophobics shouldn't find it too challenging.

Senigallia Beach: 30 km from the festival

A beautiful beach with bar n restaurant where you can relax n have all facilities necessary after a long trip. For more info's check: WebSite

Conero beach: 50 km from the festival

Park of the Sibillini: 70 km from the festival

The National Park of the Sibillini Mountains is a park which covers an area of about 71,000 hectares straddling the Marche and Umbria Regions. It was established in 1993 and is the predominant landscape of the limestone massif of the chain of the Apennines. In the Middle Ages the Sibillini Mountains were known, all over Europe, as a magical place, one of the most famous legend deals with the great prophetess Sibyl. There is a hiking trail of about 120 km called “The Big Ring of Sibillini”, that is extended across the lenght of the Sibillini Mountains National Park. The path is subdivided into 9 steps and you can decide to go on foot or by mountainbike. The entire route is marked and you can buy guidebooks and maps of the route. There are several shelters along the trail, where hikers can eat and sleep. The paths lead us to medieval towns, to rural and pastoral life and bring us in deep contact with wild nature and the magical world of mountains.

One of the most interesting things of this area is Wine!

Check the infos about the wine from here:

The “Verdicchio dei castelli di Jesi” wine is the white wine typical of the Region Marche and is a Protected Designation of Origin wine (named “DOC” in Italian) in particular it comes from Ancona and Macerata. It’s known all over the world for its quality and its amphora shaped bottle designed during the 50’s. The Verdicchio wine has a fruity, floral fragrances, its taste is beautifully structured and its color is clear and intense straw-yellow with golden-green tones from which derives its name. The principal historical wineries are situated in Belvedere Ostrense, San Marcello, Morro d‘Alba, Jesi, Castelbellino, Castelplanio, Cupramontana, Maiolati Spontini, Montecarotto, Monsano, Monte Roberto, Poggio San Marcello, Rosora, San Paolo di Jesi e di Staffolo.

Look up to the following link to find out some wineries where is possible to taste and buy some kinds of Verdicchio wine.

The “Lacrima di Morro d’Alba” red wine is a Protected Designation of Origin wine (in italian DOC) and its production is allowed only in the district of Ancona. Its colour is intense ruby red, with evident purple hues, has a pleasant and intense smell, and its taste is soft and characteristic, the structure is full-bodied and dry taste.

Probably the name “Lacrima” comes from the fact that the grape skin, when it comes to the point of maturation is torn, leaving drip the juice content (tear = lacrima). In 1985 the Lacrima di Morro d’Alba becomes a DOC wine and one of the first historical mentions was made by Federico Barbarossa in the 1167. Originally the production area included only the territory of Morro d'Alba (Ancona) but now the area has also been extended to neighboring towns -except for the valley bordering the Adriatic Sea.

Every year, in May, there is a feast totally dedicated to this wine called “festa della Lacrima” and this year occurs the 49th edition!

The principal wineries are situated in Morro d’Alba, Belvedere Ostrense, San Marcello, Monte San Vito, Ostra and Senigallia.
